![]() ![]() Best I can tell, as stated in the intro, no one here outside of perhaps the witch you meet (who is more clothed than the rest) is close to out of their teens. It is the standard anime trope of a normal human being transported into a fantastical world with some amnesia thrown on top and little to no clothing for any ladies involved. You’ll start viciously killing goblins before you meet up with a witch who helps you on your task to stop the summoning of the “Dark Lady”. Her memory is gone and her stomach is always showing no matter what angle she’s shown from. This is a pretty typical 2D action platformer with areas gated progression-wise by items you’ll find throughout your playthrough. It is certainly not a “survival” game as defined by the west. I take that to mean that they feel you will be required to constantly use menus to heal up, change out your spells, armor, and weaponry and that by default it can be rather difficult. Originally a Kickstarter from South Korean developer Altari Games and published by DANGEN Entertainment which is based out of Japan, Lost Ruins is described by the devs as a survival action game. ![]() With realistic boob bounce action Woody Allen’s Take on Anime? I don’t have a slick intro to the main review, so uh yeah this is Lost Ruins. The title features mostly female characters, rarely fully clothed, who often transform into giant monsters with massive swaying breasts. This weird sexualization of characters who both look like and by the game’s end appear to be minors gnaws away at the very heart of what is otherwise a decent, relaxed take on the Metroidvania genre. He can make his way to the roulette wheel from here, but there is something else hidden in this area.Underneath a thin veneer of mediocre platforming, decent combat, an at times off-putting story, and surprisingly wonderful music lies a creepy and uncomfortable art style. From there, Kirby must pass through another set of halls with falling walls before finally exiting the ruins. In the following area, Kirby will need to make his way forward past the numerous lasers (though there is something hidden to the left). Once Mecha Cotta is defeated, the door forward appears, along with some helpful items. ![]() As this fight progresses, more Cottas appear at regular intervals. Kirby finds himself in an enclosed space, where he must battle with Mecha Cotta. ![]() From there, it's an ascent into a wide open space, where the door to the challenge room can be found on the left, and the way forward on the right. Once at the bottom, the second treasure chest comes in sight. From there, it's a long vertical descent past lasers and soft sand. The next area starts with a demonstration of how light panels work, as Kirby must light all three to open the way forward. The door forward can then be found past another set of patrolling Blados. Kirby will have to chase it down and defeat the Grinkey to return it to its former state and unlock the gate. A key appears as if sent specifically to aid Kirby, but it then reveals itself to be a trick, turning into a Grinkey and fluttering away. Above that, a locked gate guards the way forward. As Kirby progresses further, he'll find six bottles of milk which he can collect if he is fast enough to outrun the wall behind them. Unlike with the Cotta, however, these walls will not instantly KO Kirby if they land on him, instead just doing a point of damage like other hazards. The next hallway features walls that fall in when passed, crushing an unfortunate Cotta as a demonstration. Near the top, he will be rewarded with the opportunity to heal up and collect a bunch of Point Stars. The first Treasure Chest can be found along this area, and is easy to spot.Īfter passing through a door, Kirby finds himself in a wider and more vertical space which he will need to climb up carefully. The path continues down deep into the structure, through halls filled with more lasers and Blados on patrol, along with other minor enemies. Once inside the ruins, Kirby will encounter a laser blocking his path, but this can be dealt with by blocking it with a rainbow rope. Some Bzztbulbs guard the entrance, but they should be no issue if Kirby attacks at the right time. Kirby begins this stage out in the desert at night, at the foot of a giant sandstone ruin. ![]()
